Star Babies (Ages 6 months - 18 months)

The purpose of this class is to develop in very young children a high comfort level in the water while at the same time train parents about water safety. Comfort in the water comes from trust, experience, and loving encouragement. Children can begin to become comfortable in the water as early as 6 months. Songs and interactive activities are a big part of the FUN! Skills taught are Entries/Exits, Balance Holds, Floating on front/back, Jumping, Submersions, Rollovers, Kicking and Arm Movements. Swim Diapers are required. A PARENT or TRUSTED CARE GIVER must be in the water with the child during this classes.

Star Tots (Ages 18 months – 3 years)

The StarTots class is a continuation of skills taught in the StarBabies class. The StarTots will be introduced to a variety of new skills focusing on Drifting and Independent Movement to prepare them for a learn-to-swim program. If children are comfortable in the water, they will be more willing to learn and participate in swimming programs. Songs and interactive activities are a big part of the FUN! Swim Diapers are required. A PARENT or TRUSTED CARE GIVER must be in the water with the child during this classes.

Super Tots (Ages 18 months – 3 years)

The SuperTots class is a continuation of skills taught in the StarTots class. Students must be comfortable going under the water and floating on their backs. The SuperTots will focus on independent forward movement with rolling over onto their backs to rest and breathe. Swim Diapers are required. A PARENT or TRUSTED CARE GIVER must be in the water with the child during this classes.

Sea Sprites (Ages 3-5)

The StarFish Swim School for SeaSprites (preschoolers ages 3-5) are taught in eight 30 minute lessons with a ratio of 4 students to 1 instructor. Students will develop a high comfort level in the water and a readiness to swim (white/red level) and for those children who are developmentally ready, it will begin to teach swim skills (yellow/blue/green level). This class teaches swimming through creative, fun activities in the water. The StarFish Swim School curriculum has identified benchmarks (safety and swim skills) that each student should work towards and once the level has been mastered, the student will receive a color stage patch for achievement.

*When selecting a SeaSprites class, please note the color level associated with the class. White/Red level classes are for beginner swimmers. Yellow/Blue/Green level classes are for children who are comfortable going under the water and can float on their backs unsupported in water over their head.

Super Sprites (Ages 3-5)

The StarFish Swim School for SuperSprites (preschoolers ages 3-5) are taught in eight 30 minute lessons with a ratio of 4 students to 1 instructor. This class is designed for students in the GREEN LEVEL who are not yet ready to move onto the StrokeStars. The focus of this class is to master the skills in the green level with emphasis on sideglide 1-2-3 sideglide and diving.

Sea Stars (Ages 6 - 8)

The StarFish Swim School for SeaStars (ages 6-8) are taught in eight 45 minute lessons with a ratio of 6 students to 1 instructor. Students work toward development of the five core swimming competencies and receive color level patches for each achievement. The color levels are used to divide students into broad ability groups. Children progress at individual rates with the opportunity to learn the core swimming skills and progress to advanced strokes. Learning is self-paced but challenging.

Swim Stars (Ages 9 - 14)

The StarFish Swim School for SwimStars (ages 9-14) are taught in eight 45 minute lessons with a ratio of 6 students to 1 instructor. This class is designed to improve comfort and skill in the water, regardless of past swimming experience. Students work toward developing the five basic swimming competencies.

Swim Stars (Adults) (Ages 15+)

The StarFish Swim School for Adult SwimStars (ages 15 and older) are taught in eight 45 minute lessons with a ratio of 6 students to 1 instructor. Students build their confidence in and around the water while focusing the five basic swimming competencies.

Jr. Stroke Stars (Ages 7 & under)

The StarFish Stroke School for Jr. StrokeStars (ages 7 and younger) are taught in eight 45 minute lessons with a ratio of 6 students to 1 instructor. Students advance to Jr. StrokeStars once they have achieved the green level in the StarFish Swim School. The Stroke School curriculum focuses on balance and rotation, air exchange, timing, pulling and kicking for each of the four strokes (Freestyle, Backstroke, Butterfly and Breaststroke). Each stroke contains a water skill benchmark that incorporates proper stroke mechanics and appropriate level of endurance.

Stroke Stars (Any age that meets skill prerequisite)

The StarFish Stroke School for StrokeStars are taught in eight 45 minute lessons with a ratio of 6 students to 1 instructor. Students advance to StrokeStars once they have achieved the green level in the StarFish Swim School. The Stroke School curriculum focuses on balance and rotation, air exchange, timing, pulling and kicking for each of the four strokes (Freestyle, Backstroke, Butterfly and Breaststroke). Each stroke contains a water skill benchmark that incorporates proper stroke mechanics and appropriate level of endurance.

Stroke Stars Adult (15 years and older that meets the skill prerequisite)

The Stroke class for Adult StrokeStars are taught in eight 45 minute lessons with a ratio of 6 students to 1 instructor. The prerequisites include the swimmer being comfortable in deep water and can demonstrate a basic swim stroke. The Stroke School curriculum focuses on balance and rotation, air exchange, timing, pulling and kicking for each of the four strokes (Freestyle, Backstroke, Butterfly and Breaststroke).

Angel Fish

The AngelFish program is designed to meet the needs of your special needs child. These classes are taught along the same philosophy as the Starfish Swim School. The classes will provide necessary teaching adaptations and or adaptive equipment that may be required to make your child as independent and successful in the water as possible. Private lessons are available for children and adults of all ages.
